They say money can't buy love. Then again, most of us don't have billions in the bank to find out. Though Silicon Valley tech wizards and oil barons do. Admittedly, some found love early on before their ideas became billion dollar realities. But the rest? Well, whether you buy into their love or not, they certainly seem happy!
Here, we'll profile some of the most successful tycoons and the women that wooed them in a world usually guarded for all but a select few.
1. Priscilla Chan
Having known each other since their Harvard days, it's fair to say that their love is genuine! Amusingly, the shy billionaire, who become one of the youngest self-made billionaires in the world when Facebook's popularity grew, managed to convince Priscilla he was serious about seeing her when he told her that “[he’d] rather be on a date with her than finish his midterm.” The couple married in a low-key ceremony in 2012.
2. Laurene Powell Jobs
Laurene was approached by a young Steve in one of her classes when the two were students at Stanford. It must have been good wooing from Steve as the two were married in 1991 and would go on to have three children together. In due course, Laurene saw Jobs career go from catastrophic highs to even bigger lows but always stood by her husband, even after his dismissal from his own company, Apple, in 1985.
Sadly, Jobs passed away from cancer in 2012.
3. Lucy Southworth
One-half of Google's brains, Larry Page has seen his company, which began in the humble setting of his garage, turn into the world's most visited website. In time, a $30 billion fortune also followed, but Page seems richer because of his beautiful and intelligent wife, Lucy Southworth. The blonde beauty graduated from Oxford University and is currently studying for a doctorate in biomedical informatics at Stanford University. The couple had dated for two years before they tied the knot in a small ceremony on Richard Branson's exotic Necker Island in 2007.
4. Talulah Riley
The talented British actress first met the charismatic billionaire at a nightclub in 2008, and it wasn't long before they got hitched when they committed to each other in a grand wedding ceremony in Scotland two years later. However, the Space X and Paypal founder, who has a $11.9 billion fortune, has seen his relationship hit the rocks on more than one occasion, divorcing only two years later only to get back together after 18 months! Currently, they are divorced for the second time but with that kind of history, a reunion can never be dismissed.
5. Fabiana Flosi
As the owner and CEO of Formula One, Bernie, 81, isn't short of cash, and over the years has accumulated a $4 billion fortune. However, the motorsport mogul saw a large chunk of his wealth decrease due to his divorce from his first wife, Slavica Ecclestone. Nevertheless, he moved on quickly, and since 2012, has called the stunning Brazilian Fabiana Flosi his wife.
6. Anne Wojcicki
Anne Wojcicki comes from an intelligent family. Her father is a physics professor at Stanford; her sister is CEO at Youtube while the other is an anthropologist at the University of California, San Francisco. You'd think then that they were perfect for each other. But no. Brin had an affair which lasted two years with on of his Google colleagues, leaving his then-wife with little choice but to ask for a divorce.
Since, Wojcicki had a high-profile romance with the baseball star, Alex Rodriguez.
7. Melania Knauss
Donald Trump has been in the news most days since he announced he would be running for President. However, the businessman/reality TV star has been in the tabloid columns for a long time thanks to his marriage history which has seen the Donald go through 3 divorces. His current wife, the Slovakian model, Melania Knauss, has been his wife since 2005, but given his current stance on immigrants, we're surprised she's still with him....
8. Jerry Hall
Eyebrows were hunched when the former wife of Rolling Stones frontmen Mick Jagger tied the knot with ruthless businessman, Rupert Murdoch. The Australian media mogul, who has an estimated net worth of $12.4 billion, married Jerry in 2016. She is 26 years his junior.
9. Melinda Gates
Bill Gates and his wife, Melinda, have long been seen as one of the world's power couples, but their sincerity and unassuming personalities suggest that any title with the word 'power' in it would be readily dismissed.
However you view them, the two have been instrumental in their philanthropic endeavors, and have donated over $28 billion to their personal foundation. Melinda, who holds a degree in computer science and economics, met Bill while working as a programmer at Microsoft. They have been married since 1994.
10. Nikita Khan
The Ukranian actress began dating American billionaire Larry Ellison in 2011 and has since gone on to appear in a few Hollywood movies, most notably starring alongside Bruce Willis and Nicky Reed in "Catch 44". Ellison, who has a history of appearing in films as well having made a cameo in Iron Man 2, is the CEO of Oracle Corporation, and has a net worth of $50 billion, making him the fifth-richest man in the world.
11. Mariah Carrey
For someone who has sold 200m records worldwide, the American songstress will probably need little introduction. But her soon-to-be billionaire Australian husband, James Packer might. A benefactor of his families company, Consolidated Press Holdings Limited, Packer has gone on to earn the family company billions.
12. Salma Hayek
Teased for being poor at school, a teenage Francis Pinault dropped out of High School in 1947, and it appears the French billionaire never let such taunts return. In fact, Pinault's experiences may be behind his increased confidence in managing to convince Hollywood actress Salma Hayek to be his wife!
Today, the shrewd entrepreneur and proud husband's wealth comes mainly through his luxury good company 'PPR,' which owns famous brands like Gucci and Balenciaga.
13. Dasha Alexandrovna Zhukova
Dasha is, shall we say, rather dashing. Puns aside, the Russian beauty is somewhat of a celebrity in her native homeland for her relationship with the retired Russian tennis player, Marat Safin. But that was in 2005 and since 2006, the socialite and designer has been in a long-term relationship with Chelsea FC owner and billionaire oligarch, Roman Abramovich.
14. Mackenzie Bezos
Married to the Amazon founder Jeff Bezos since 1993 after meeting at the same hedge fund, the two married only a year later. But Mackenzie Bezos hasn't stopped working just because of her husband's financial success. In fact, Mackenzie is a successful novelist, and made it one of her aims, along with her husband, to legalize gay marriage in their homeland and have donated over $2 million to gay rights groups.
15. Susan Dell
Susan Dell is married to Dell Computer founder, Michael Dell. They have been married since 1989 and have four children together at their family home in Austin, Texas. Together, they set up the Michael and Susan Dell Foundation, which has donated over $650 million over the years for the development of education and health for underprivileged children.
